The centre exists to promote religious education in Wales. This aim is met through encouraging research and development of religious education and by enabling the professional development of religious educators. The centre is also proud of its associations with other agencies in Wales and across the United Kingdom. Thus the role of networking and communication with others is seen as being a key element of the work of the Welsh National Centre for Religious Education.

Both the 'secular' and the 'confessional' approaches to religious education are supported by the work of the centre. So, whether your interest is in religious education in state schools, or nurturing faith as part of a religious community, then you can be assured that materials and support are available within the centre.

As a part of the University of Wales, Bangor, the academic standards of the centre are assured to be high. Our customers and sponsors can have confidence in the services provided.

The Welsh National Centre for Religious Education also makes the key British contribution to The Intereuropean Commission on Church and School.

The Director of the centre is The Revd Professor Leslie J Francis.

Dr David Lankshear is Director of Studies for the Welsh National Centre for Religious Education.

Dr Paul Rolph is Director of Projects at the Welsh National Centre for Religious Education.

Dr Douglas Turton is Director of Programmes at the Welsh National Centre for Religious Education.
